Commissioned by CCPA's Berlin project Futureperfectland which asked seven artists to imagine alternative narratives to do with the climate crisis. This project brought together an A.I. developed by Chaney's technology company Complex Earth Ltd that automates the design of permaculture systems, and a haptic panel reminiscent of a 1980's nuclear power station control room.

The “Food Forest Generator Unit #1” will have replaced our lost Earth systems knowledge and created biodiverse food systems in urban centers. These food forests will have been carefully planned through computational modelling. Mediating the relationship between humans and non-humans through machinic understanding, AI will have helped us reverse our own exceptionalism."
